You Can Get Great Aerobics Clothing For Your Exercise Program

Jerry Cahill Said:

The physical dedication and focus that are involved in a successful aerobics class is enhanced by having the right comfortable clothing to exercise in. Many have witnessed that a new touch of style has developed in conjunction with the new health conscious crowd. It may cost a little more to exercise in aerobics clothing made of premium materials but it can be well worth it in order to make your exercises more comfortable and doable. You could even make a goal oriented incentive program in which a predetermined number of successful workouts results in a reward of buying yourself new expensive aerobic clothing. This type of incentive may help you to more easily reach your exercise goals and move on to higher levels of fitness.

Comfort is the new key to workouts. If you have not done aerobic workouts you may not be aware of the role comfortable clothing plays in successful workouts. Aerobic exercise involves constant movements which may take a toll on your body if your clothing is not right.

Some clothing is actually approved for aerobics and can often be found in sporting good stores or on the internet. The first test in choosing aerobic clothing is to touch it to get a sense of how it may feel to you. This test is not meant to lessen internet shopping but in some cases first hand experience with the clothing may be your best guide in making a good purchase. Those with more clothing knowledge may have better internet shopping experiences. Remember overly cute or clever clothing designs may create problems for demanding workouts. You should take your workouts more slowly in new clothing to be sure it works for you. If you do a lot of flexibility exercises you should focus on soft stretchy material for your clothing.

If your clothing is expensive, stylish and uncomfortable you may soon grow tired of aerobic workouts. You should try to find a balance between comfortable and affordable clothing. A good source of clothing information could be your aerobics instructor. They have preferences for quality items and know where to get a bargain. Keep an open mind. If you have to pay a little extra it may provide lasting benefits you get from comfortable completions of your workouts. If the aerobic workout clothes help you to avoid exercise discomfort than you have achieved your goal.

The bridge for most people is the balance between clothing costs and clothing comfort. The right niche shopping can help you find the right gear at affordable prices. Also remember that you can get exercise incentives by buying yourself some higher priced clothing, especially if it offers exceptional comfort. This will help you to have something to show for the hard work you are putting into your exercise program for better health and a secure feeling of a longer life. Aerobic exercises can make you look and feel like a winner.

The Basics Of Pilates Exercise

Heather Colman Said:

If you’re highly informed or even if you’re one of those people that just stay home, no doubt you’ve heard of the pilates exercise. The purpose of pilates Exercises is to stretch and to strengthen your body. That is why pilates is so popular with most contortionists and ballet dancers.

But just because people are using pilates for physical improvement, and weight loss, it doesn’t mean that a pilates exercise is a cardiovascular exercise. Pilates is basically a low intensity exercise. Most instructors recommend pilates with aerobics and other forms of exercise for best effects.

The pilates Exercise was invented by Joseph Pilates, a German National, as a self exercise. Pilates was born a fragile child, sickly and asthmatic, so he took to exercise to improve his body. When he was a bit older, he was living in France, and was arrested as an “enemy alien.’ During his internment, he was assigned in the medical facilities of the prison and this is where he put pilates into use, as rehabilitation exercises for the sick.

Since then the pilates exercises has gained its reputation for helping improve the overall physical state of the body. Pilates exercise is a series of breathing techniques combined with stretching and a simple machine. Pilates exercises designed to improve the body’s core. This includes the muscles in the abdomen, back, and buttocks. Some say it is better than yoga overall because it strengthens the body through improving posture strength and flexibility through stretching. The machines used in pilates, are there to challenge the body, by making it stay in certain positions while moving the other parts in differing directions, thereby training the body to endure strain, thus increasing strength.

The basic Ideology of the pilates Exercise is the use of the body’s mental ability to improve movement, efficiency and muscle control, which is also why they say that Pilate exercise somehow improves one’s mental state. Pilates also makes you aware of proper posture. Due to the exercises that you do, it also develops the muscles in the back and abdomen, further promoting good posture.

Pilate exercise also uses breathing techniques, which further increases mental focus. And probably one of the greatest focuses of pilates is flexibility strength of the muscles. It is this ideology that made pilates popular among dancers in the begining.

Many pilates enthusiasts and users have testified to the effectiveness of this program. With regular classes, the bodies become well balanced and stronger. Some say that after each workout, you can instantly feel the difference it has made to the parts of the body, mainly the legs back and abs.

Aside from increased strength, weight loss is what many people aim for when they do pilates exercises. Other benefits of pilates include increased energy levels, higher endurance, better flexibility, great abdominal workouts, and overall physical well being.

Yoga in Practice – Methods for Happiness

Paul M. Jerard Jr. Said:

Let’s take a systematic approach toward happiness, by using Yoga principles, and applying them to life. Here are a few more methods to help anyone find happiness at any time.

Just by visiting a local Yoga class, you will find yourself surrounded by positive energy. Yet, this same principle applies to going anywhere like-minded people exist. Always surround yourself with optimists.

Look within, and you will find good qualities. Be aware of your strong points and stop worrying about your short comings. We are all human, so do not be the last one to forgive yourself for a mistake. One of the worst mistakes you can make is not forgiving yourself.

Stay away from sinking into a self-pity slump. The future is often what we anticipate. With that said, there is a real need to anticipate success. You have nothing to lose by maintaining a positive outlook on life.

Learn to laugh often, and learn to laugh at yourself – it is good for your health. This is why Laughter Yoga has become so popular. When you start to take life too seriously, observe it and smile.

Life is too short to worry all the time. In fact, worrying is a complete waste of time. Finding solutions is not worrying. If you focus on solutions, you may just solve those worries away.

Believe that you deserve success and happiness. To think otherwise, invites disaster. If we think we deserve failure, we begin to attract pessimists. The last thing any of us needs is to find ourselves in the company of critics.

Be thankful for your health, family, friends, home, and your good qualities. Focus on the good things in life, which you already have. Yoga practice starts when you roll up the mat and learn to put the methods into practice.

Students come to Yoga classes for a variety of reasons, but one of the reasons is because the steady practice makes them happy. Those that think Hatha Yoga is a physically demanding form of torture will not continue the practice.

For teachers, the objective is to show students the multiple benefits of Yoga over the course of a month. Why a month? These days, most people are only willing to give 30 days to try something new, and Yoga is no different. Let’s look at ways to make new students aware of the benefits of a continued Yoga practice.

What is the primary form of instant gratification? If you are thinking of chocolate, that’s close. The primary form of instant gratification is happiness. In fact, you do not have to pay to smile or laugh. Some people pay for entertainment, but this is not a requirement for laughing or smiling.

Yoga teachers want their students to appreciate life “in the now,” but an easy place to start is by teaching them to develop full awareness of their surroundings. For example: The smell of flowers, the feeling of sunshine, and the sound of a bird’s song, are small features on this journey we call “life,” and they can each bring about states of happiness.

Your classroom does not have to become a comedy club or circus, but you can create a joyful atmosphere. Just by getting students to appreciate the simple pleasures in life, they will begin to open their minds to new paths of happiness.

Look at how much you appreciate the benefits of Pranayama – it required your awareness to appreciate it, and developed happiness, before you continued the practice on your own.

Yoga in Practice – Three Steps to Tranquility

Paul M. Jerard Jr. Said:

Students come to Yoga classes for a variety of reasons, but many are seeking some form of tranquility. Luckily, Yoga has many methods, which reduce stress levels and bring about inner peace. Let’s look at some methods you can practice to relax and live in tranquility.

1. Set and schedule a daily Yoga routine. Most people start to give me resistance on this, but anything worth doing requires practice. Everyone has ten minutes per day, which can be spared for Yoga or meditation. Look at your day and make an appointment, with yourself, and without distractions.

If you go to bed late, practice gentle postures (asanas), pranayama, prayers, silent mantras, or meditation. If you find yourself practicing a bit longer, that’s fine too. If you are an early riser, it should be easy to spare ten minutes in the morning. Early morning Yoga practice works for many of my students, as well.

One side effect, which you will notice within one week, is productivity. When you are on a schedule, you become much more productive in all areas of life. This is on top of the fact that you will feel tranquility and happiness.

2. Exercise each of the four planes of your existence. Mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health, are the four aspects, which contribute to your inner peace and happiness.

I. Challenge your mind daily by reading, listening, and learning new skills. You can learn a new language, a new life skill, or anything, which will contribute to your mental growth.

II. Spend time with those who love you and challenge yourself to develop patience. Always work toward tolerance, patience, and inner strength. Humility is not surrender, but it is a choice to be peaceful.

III. Engage in prayer, mantra, japa, or positive affirmations. Religion was designed to end suffering, not to start wars and provoke conflicts. Your choice of which way to worship is yours to make. Never harm others for any reason, especially in the name of your religion.

IV. Make physical exercise a part of every day. Walk, practice asanas, play your favorite sport, and make sure you enjoy what you do.

3. Eat a clean diet. You have probably heard this over, and over, again, but whole, natural, organic, and raw vegetarian foods, will contribute to the length and quality of your life. In Yoga, this is called a Sattvic diet.

Wash your food well, eat moderate portions, try to enjoy the preparation process, do not over cook your food, and eat in a relaxed manner. If you have to eat chocolate, or ice cream, make sure that your portions are moderate and you enjoy every bite. Moderation is a key to longevity.

This is the foundation of Yoga’s holistic approach to complete health. It is true that people will not always practice all of these steps each day. Just do your personal best, and you will find tranquility as you journey through life.

Which Type of Yoga is Right for You?

Jay Franco Said:

If you haven’t practiced Yoga before then you might be confused by the many different types of Yoga practices that are out there. Before deciding which type of Yoga is right for you it’s a good idea to attend a class of each style that interests you so that you can try out each style to see which you prefer. Here’s a brief overview of the most popular types of Yoga to help you get started:

Hatha Yoga – This is by far the most common type of Yoga practiced in the West. Hatha Yoga is a slow paced Yoga practice that focuses on both mind and body. If you’re just starting out you will probably find Hatha Yoga to be the best fit for you.

Vinyasa Yoga – Vinyasa is a type of Yoga practice that focuses on the breath and how breathing affects your body and mind. The physical practice of Vinyasa Yoga is more active than the physical practice of Hatha Yoga

Ashtenga Yoga – Ashtenga Yoga is also commonly called Power Yoga. This form of Yoga is fast paced and very physical. If you are looking for a Yoga practice that will provide a good aerobic workout then Asthenga Yoga is the best choice for you.

Iyengar Yoga- Iyengar Yoga is the best Yoga practice for people who have old injuries or chronic illnesses and want to start a Yoga practice that will help them become more flexible and agile and will help them heal. Iyengar Yoga allows the use of props like blocks and straps to help people align their bodies properly to do the movements.

Kundalini Yoga- Kundalini Yoga is focused primarily on the breath and its effect on health. Kundalini Yoga focuses mostly on rapid, repetitive movements rather than on drawn out poses. There is also a lot of meditation practiced in Kundalini Yoga.

Yoga Classes: What to Expect

Matthew Hick Said:

One popular type of fitness routines today is yoga. Although it is the current rage, it is certainly not new. Yoga is one of the oldest forms of fitness. People who practice yoga generally attend classes and work with yoga instructors to perfect their mental and physical skills. Let’s take a look at what yoga class entails.

Yoga has been in the world for over 8000 years. But recently it has gained momentum as a choice fitness program. There are several different types of yoga to choose from; Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga, Bekram Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Iyengar Yoga. It is a good idea to observe some of these classes to determine which yoga is right for you. Once you make your choice, you can attend classes at fitness centers or the YMCA. You can join a group session or participate in a private session.

Classes are usually sixty to ninety minutes long. The beginning of the class will consist of relaxation, breathing and warm-up stretches. This may also include some chanting, such as ‘OMS’ to help relax your body. Then there will be a series of asanas, or poses. The teacher will walk around, watch your movements and offer advice on how to improve your form. The end of the class will be a total relaxation period, which will help calm the body and clear the mind.

To be prepared for your yoga class, you should wear shorts, a t-shirt or tank top. They should be loose or tighter fitted, but not restrictive of movements. Yoga is usually done barefoot. You might want to bring a yoga mat, especially if there are wood floors. Most people prefer sticky mats for their sturdiness. Many yoga classes have mats for rent. Just keep in mind; you will get sweaty during a class and so will the people who have used the mat before you. If you are going to stick with this exercise, most people prefer to buy their own mats. Also, bring water to hydrate yourself after class. And remember do not eat one to two hours before the class.

You will be expected to work at your own ability level. If you need a rest during the workout, you can always resort to the child’s pose. You can continue when you feel you are able, as each individual sets his or her own speed. In your class, everyone will function at his or her own stage; you shouldn’t be concerned others are more advanced. This will only hinder your concentration and rob you of any benefits you may experience.

Yoga is an exercise, which is easy to learn and requires no equipment outside of a yoga mat. It will produce a more relaxed you, and you can expect to feel good after it is over. You may feel inadequate as you start but with practice you will be able to master the yoga poses. So if you want a feel good, get fit, self-awareness exercise program, it may be just an ‘OM’ away.

Yoga for Depression: Blame and Control

anonymous Said:

Sometimes blaming others for our problems is easier than finding solutions. Any of us can blame our friends, parents, co-workers, family, and significant other for “our lot in life.” We can also blame “every driver on the road of life.”

Have you ever heard something similar to this? “Everyone over there drives terribly, but not me.” What is the source of all this blame? It is an inherent discontent with life.

Unfortunately, this usually occurs when we quietly blame ourselves for everything on a regular basis. Yoga teaches us to accept our mistakes and to accept what we cannot change.

Some people silently carry blame around with them all of their lives. Others look at past mistakes and agonize over them. Mindfulness is a universal practice, taught in Yoga classes, that will help you live for now.

We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it, and do our best to help those who we have hurt in the past. Mindfulness and Yoga meditation techniques will help anyone appreciate the present moment and the prospects of a brighter future. How is this possible?

Each style of Yoga works on the mental aspects of health. Even the very physical styles, of Yoga, work on the mental component of health. A healthy mind will contribute to your physical health exponentially. As an example of this, look at the recoveries of positive-thinking cancer patients.

Sometimes, we are blamed for something we had no involvement in. Our reaction is to feel bad about it, but we must develop “thicker skin” and avoid those who would make us the “scapegoat.” When you are constantly harassed by someone; it is not good for your mental health to repeatedly expose yourself to anguish.

Another contributor to depression is the desire to control everything. There are so many different possibilities in this life. As a result, life creates circumstances beyond our control. This does not give us the right to neglect everything, but we must learn to accept that we try our best, and that is all we can do. If you do your best every day, forgive yourself for any mistakes.

At the same time we must forgive friends, family, and co-workers for being human. If you learn to accept imperfection, you will be pleasantly surprised, when you see perfection as a rare jewel.

So, what did any of this have to do with Yoga? Yama and Niyama are the first two limbs of Yoga. The second Niyama is Santosha, also known as contentment.

A mind without contentment is also without peace. Do not confuse contentment with riches. The rich can only be truly content, when they share.

Aerobics – How to Succeed

peter radford Said:

Background

Aerobics refers to the type of physical exercise that involves aerobic routines, which refers to exercise that involves or improves oxygen consumption by the body, by the application of rhythmical movements. In particular, it defines the concepts of: Flexibility, which is the amount of movement in a joint or muscle that is attainable with the help of a partner or the use of a certain piece of equipment.

Aerobics are usually performed to a background of music and is normally enacted in a group setting led by an instructor, who leads and guides the group to ensure continuity. However, it can also be undertaken as a solo exercise, and without musical accompaniment, although it is argued that this is not as beneficial as in the group setting.

The benefits of aerobics are not only the development of physical fitness, but also the ability to either prevent, or at the very least, reduce the incidence of certain illnesses.

The prescribed actions involve the participants performing a series of different dance-like exercises. In order to achieve the best results from the participants, aerobics classes are normally performed at different levels of intensity and complexity depending on the abilities and physical fitness of the performers.

Many gyms offer the facility of aerobic classes. Each class is designed to accommodate a certain level of experience of the performers and is taught by a certified instructor with experience related to their particular class.

Aerobic gymnastics

Aerobic gymnastics, also known as sport aerobics or competitive aerobics, refers to performing complicated and high activity movements to music, which originate from traditional aerobics, with a high level of perfectly executed movements which are defined as difficult.

It combines aerobics, sports aerobics, coordinating gymnastics with music, dance movements and choreography of the entire performance.

In order to introduce fairness, the performances are structured under various categories according to the age, gender and composition of the group, whether individual, mixed pairs or trios.

The judging is based on the following movements: strength exhibited whilst stationery and in motion, jumps and leaps, kicks, balance and flexibility. There are three compulsory exercises: four successive high leg kicks, four successive push-ups, and a programme which begins with four jumping jacks, and leads into 32 elements of standing movements and patterns. Performers are allowed to choose up to ten techniques from following selection: push-ups, supports and balances, kicks and splits, jumps and leaps. However, the following maneuvers may not be included in the routines: handstands, tumbling, back flips, handsprings, or aerial somersaults.

The performances are judged on the basis of the quality of the artistic content, the creativity exhibited, how well the performance was executed, and the extent of the difficulty of the routines presented.

Sport aerobics is represented in competitions at state, national, and international levels, but is not established as an Olympic sport.

Learning the Popular Styles of Yoga

Paul M. Jerard Jr. Said:

There are many styles of yoga, but teachers should be familiar with the nine main forms of yoga, from India, and their relationships to contemporary styles. The nine main styles are: Bhakti, Hatha, Jnana, Karma, Kundalini, Mantra, Raja, Tantric, and Yantra Yoga. Bhakti yoga is widely practiced in India, yet barely known by the masses outside of India.

If you’re looking to become a yoga instructor, you must be thoroughly trained and ready to cater to a variety of student needs. A competent yoga instructor should be well-versed in many aspects of yoga. Different styles emphasize varying aspects of yoga. Some may focus on the coordination of breath and movement, while others focus on the proper alignment of the body. Others use atmospheric conditions as the basis of the style.

Globally, one of the most popular styles is Hatha yoga. This is a style that focuses on slow, meditative breathing and relaxed postures. A yoga instructor will slowly guide students through poses one at a time. Many people, who attend Hatha classes, appreciate the relaxed feeling they get from the exercise aspects. Some people, who try Hatha classes, do not like the slow-pace and are searching for a higher-intensity exercise.

Vinyasa yoga, sometimes called Flow or Power yoga, contains a completely different focus, in comparison to the meditative Hatha. Vinyasa is called, Flow or Power, because of its emphasis on smooth and powerful movements. The teacher will guide students through a series of poses, changing them in rhythm with the breath.

The poses run together like a dance. Vinyasa classes can be either, high or low intensity, depending upon the yoga instructor’s emphasis. Vinyasa can be very diverse because it allows the yoga instructor to interject their personality into the routines.

Vinyasa, Flow, or Power yoga, draws sequences from Hatha or Raja yoga, depending upon the instructor’s lineage. Raja is the form of yoga, which Maharishi Pantanjali describes in the Yoga Sutras. It should be noted that Raja is sometimes called, Ashtanga, which means “eight limbs.”

Ashtanga yoga can also be an athletic style of yoga. It is based on a demanding series of pose changes, sometimes connected by jumps. Designed for flexible, and usually young, bodies, Ashtanga has gained popularity in the Western world because of its intensity. Some popular students of this style are Madonna and Sting. An advantage of this style is that it can be self-led.

Usually the yoga instructor will teach students a series of poses and lead them in the routine. After mastering the poses and changes, the students can go through the routine at their own pace. Since this is done in the company of the yoga instructor, and other students, progress can be monitored and mistakes corrected.

For a completely different experience, there is Bikram yoga. Also known as Hot yoga, Bikram is a modern style, focusing on a set series of poses performed in a heated room. The creator of the style, Bikram Choudhury, designated twenty-six poses that constitute the Bikram style. The temperature of the room is ideally set to 105 degrees.

By keeping the room at a high temperature, the muscles of the body are more flexible. This is a controversial style because of an intellectual property lawsuit by Choudhury. Only those yoga instructors, certified in his method, are permitted to teach Bikram yoga.

On the other end of the timeline is Kundalini yoga. An ancient form, that is relatively new to the West, Kundalini focuses on the spiritual aspects of yoga. The yoga instructor leads students through a series of poses, making sure that movement is linked with breath.

The idea behind this discipline is to cause dormant energy in the lower body to become free and move upwards. For students seeking an athletic workout, Kundalini is not the place to look; but it is still an important style for a yoga instructor to understand.

From the purely physical yoga, to the more spiritual forms, a yoga instructor must be well versed. If you want to be a great yoga instructor, you should understand the basics of each major style, even while you focus on your favorite style. In this way, you’ll be ready to answer any student’s question and guide them to the right style.
