Natural Energy and Variety of Fitness Kundalini Yoga Classes

m.jeya Said:

Yoga means the group of spiritual practices, not the asanas part of it which has become known as simply yoga in the West. The Kundalini is the body’s natural energy of spiritual enlightenment. This Kundalini energy lies coiled at the base of the spine, dormant in all humans.

The aim of kundalini yoga is not really to awaken the power of man, but rather to bring the power down to earth or to bring the power of the unconscious or higher consciousness, to normal consciousness. We have no need to awaken the consciousness, for it is ever awake. We have only to gain complete control over our higher conscious forces. By means of kundaiini yoga we just try to bring the centers from mooladhara to ajna into operation so that the higher knowledge will be gradually revealed to us.

Tell Me All About Pilates

Tammy Foster Said:

What is Pilates?

That’s a great question and if you have never given this form of exercise a shot then perhaps it is time that you get up off the couch and see what the craze is all about.

Pilates, originally developed by Joseph H. Pilates, is a series of over 500 exercises that are designed to strengthen, lengthen and tone the muscles.

Pilates is also designed to improve your flexibility and improve your posture. After all, who doesn’t want to be more flexible and have better posture?

Pilates, a theory based on many dance and yoga movements, is highly recommended by physicians and exercise physiologists as one of the safest forms of exercises available.

It is gentle enough so that almost everyone can do it and reap the benefits.

Especially if you find yourself suffering from low back pain, Pilates is a great decision since its design is built on the principles built to improve your flexibility, stability, and strengthen your abdominal and back muscles. The controlled movements of Pilates help to keep you safe while you exercise.

Pilates is not a method of exercise based on endless repetitions, but rather, Pilates’ foundation is such that you perform fewer repetitions but with intense focus and concentration on each and every single movement of the activity.

With Pilates you also concentrate on your breathing again to help you really concentrate your focus on the movements of your body.

Pilates’ exercises can be performed on a mat on the floor using a video or DVD or either by taking an instructor-led class or by performing a series of exercises on specifically designed Pilates’ equipment such as the Pilates Reformer.

There are also other types of Pilates’ accessories such as the Pilates’ Magic Circle or even the basic exercise ball.

All of these Pilates’ accessories can help to enhance your exercises sequence by adding more challenge to the movements, creating more resistance and helping you to mix it up so that exercise boredom doesn’t set in.

With Pilates’ accessories as you gain more experience with the movements, you may find the accessories to add a bit more punch to your workout.

Pilates is an amazing form of exercise that can help you to regain your form, lengthen your muscles and relocate the flexibility that disappeared somewhere throughout the years.

Give it a try and you may decide that Pilates turns into your new best friend.

How to Prevent Pilate Injuries?

Garry Nixon Said:

Yesterday I got a question from the Ask Experts site that I wanted to share with others, since I am seeing a lot of similar questions since the new craze of mass Pilates DVDs and under qualified instructors.

The question was from a beginner in Pilates which was trying to do the V shape or half way crunch. During the exercise the individual got a painful cramp below the rib cage. They were wondering if others have experienced this same thing when doing Pilates.

In the first place those who are just starting Pilates shouldn’t be trying the teaser or the V shape. This exercise is designed for the intermediate to advanced Pilates individuals since it requires a deeper abdominal recruitment in order to avoid overusing the hip flexors and the external obliques.

Second, Pilates doesn’t have anything like a crunch. The midsection is not tightened and compressed in Pilates; rather it seeks to strengthen the function of the muscles without compression. Pilates uses the pelvic floor and transverse abdominus.

The most accessible form of Pilates is with a Pilates mat, but for beginners the equipment is better. The apparatus was invented by Joseph Pilates to help as well as resist movement so that people who normally couldn’t move properly could still exercise. No one should do the Pilates mat before working on the machine.

Then there are the ads for Cardiolates which is a fascinating yet horrifying concept. Pilates is largely an anaerobic exercise similar to weight training. If you try to blend Pilates with cardio into one workout program then there are a number of things wrong. For one it is contrary to the complete basis of Pilates exercise and will likely see a lot of hurt people who feel they can’t do Pilates because they were injured.

The mass production of Pilates is horrible since it makes Pilates seem like nothing more than a group of exercises like all other weight loss problem. Pilates is advertised as a routine that you can do fast, slow or otherwise, but this isn’t the case. Pilates is all about the way you exercise, how you move, how you breathe and how to get into positions. Pilates isn’t about getting into a certain position, rather it is about proper movement and balance.

If Pilates routines are done improperly it can lead to hernias from bearing down too much, muscle cramps from improper recruitment, neck and back injuries from improperly flattening your back and neck which leads to muscle strain and vertebral compression from over stretching or over extending your back and neck, rotator cuff injuries from pushing the range of motion without proper ribcage stabilization, osteoporotic spinal fractures from too much flexion and other contra-indicated movements and many other injures.
